TEETH-aching /painkilling: clove, garlic (are also natural disinfectants), Roman chamomile, cajeput, nutmeg, peppermint. Use: compress, massage on cheek over gum.     Teething: Roman chamomile, lavender compress on cheek or tummy. Use only 1-2 drops in distilled water. Grinding: sweet marjoram, neroli. See other Sedatives also. Use: bath, massage, or wear before and/or during sleep.

TENSION: See STRESS, soothing or mind/mental emotional uses.

THROAT: Sore: sandalwood, cajeput, neroli, clary sage, rose geranium, bergamot, tea tree, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon. Use: rub neat on outside throat or gurgle (diluted 2 drops/cup water) & EXPEL!(Bitter but effective). WARTS: Healed (A virus):clove, garlic, lemon, lavender, onion, thug, tea tree. Use: applied undiluted to wart only 3-4 times a day, then cover with bandage. NOTE: avoid eye contact!

WEIGHT LOSS: Appetite reducers: lavender, bergamot, fennel. Use: inhale, bath, wear, massage, diffuser. Increased metabolism/burn fat: eucalyptus, camphor, garlic, onion. NOTE: may decrease fluid retention!  See also DIURETICS. Gain Weight: chamomile, or chamomile&myrrh slow metabolism. Use: diffuser.

USE METHODS & FORMULAS:


BATH          

Add 2-3 drops of essential oil to the Bath gel. 

Add the mixture to warm bath water. 

Add 5-10 drops to full bath water.

Dilute 2-4 drops of essential oils with vegetable oil first.


COMPRESS/RINSE/SPRAY:

2-4 drops essential oils per cup or bowl of distilled water.

FOR Compress: Dip in warm water, wring cloth & lay on the desired area. Use warm water only. Cover the area with a hot, damp towel. Cover the moist towel with a dry towel. 


WEAR: Add 2-3 drops essential oil on tissue in pockets, etc.
Wear as a perfume or cologne. 



DIRECT APPLICATION:

Apply directly to the skin.  Certain oils require dilution.

Oils penetrate skin.  Rapid absorption delivers benefits throughout the body within minutes.

When trying new oils, always test a small area of skin before applying over the body.

DIRECT INHALATION: 

Put several drops into the palms of your hands or on a tissue.
Cup your hands over your nose and mouth.
Breathe deeply. Breathe directly from bottle, cotton, or tissue.


INHALATION: 

Disperses a fine mist of essential oils into a room.

Sets a mood of clean air.




MASSAGE:

Add 15 drops essential oils to 1 oz. vegetable oil: almond, jojoba, sesame, canola, peanut, or lotion. Sensitive skin/elders/kids: 7 drops/1 oz. vegetable oil and apply to the body.

NEAT:  Means undiluted. Use 1-2 drops on area. Apply all oils diluted, unless labeled “neat”, due to possible burning.

STEAM FACIAL OR VAPORIZER: Add 5 drops into a bowl of hot water. Cover head with towel. Inhale. Repeat 3-5 times daily. Add essential oils before each time if needed.

DIFFUSER:

A small glass bottle with air pomp micro ionizes. Use essential oils undiluted. Run 15-30 minutes, 3-4 times daily. Scent pot ceramic. 5-20 drops essential oils in distilled water over candle. Don’t burn dry! 

SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER: Add 2-8 drops essential oils to 1 oz. shampoo. (Fleas, lice)

OINTMENT: Add 25 drops essential oils to 1 oz. vegetableoil/lotion.

     ~During pregnancy: The use of essential oils on skin esp. 1-3 months without professional advice.



* Use all essential oils diluted unless “neat” specified.

* Avoid contact with eye& sensitive skin, open wounds, cuts.

*  Always keep all essential oils out of the reach of children&pets.

* If any sort of skin rash develops, discontinue use. Try another oil.

* Use less rather than more.

* Only the finest quality pure essential oils should be used in aromatherapy.

* Keep essential oils off clothes, furniture. Many of them stain/strip wood finish.
